Vizovice is located 15 km east of Zlín in the picturesque Wallachian countryside Vizovice Hills. Vizovice was first mentioned in 1261. For centuries Vizovice is well-known for the cultivation of plums that are used for making jam and Wallachian plum liqueur. The town is also known for Vizovice bread. Famous Wallachian King Bolek Polivka (Czech actor) was born in here.
In summer Vizovice hosts two large music festivals – in early summer Master of Rock, at the end of summer Trnkobraní festival with a legendary competition in eating sloe dumplings.
